Leadership Experience

Dean of Instruction, Career Technical Education, Business/Agriculture/Industrial Technology, Business Resource Center & Community Services, Merced, CA (18 months). Note: Utilized retreat rights to return to faculty due to a new Administrative Leadership Team being appointed.

Directly responsible for the oversight of 80+ Career Technical Education credit programs offering 37 degrees and 47 certificates, 100+ faculty, 2 Directors, 15 classified support staff, 6 Community Services programs, and 27 courses for “College for Kids” classes. Secured and managed grant funding of $1.5 million annually through Strong Workforce and Perkins. Ensured equipment and program improvements for thirteen CTE Programs. Directly responsible for the oversight of CTE on-campus facilities and two off campus centers.

Meeting Student Needs:

  • Mentored staff to best meet the needs of the diverse student population

Business Cohort Faculty Lead (Elected), Merced College, CA (6 years)

As part of my former faculty role, before promoting to the position of Dean, I served as the Busines Faculty Lead within the Business Cohort, I served the college as the elected Faculty Lead of Business for six years. I was directly responsible to act as the conduit between the Dean and cohort faculty.

Specific Accomplishments As Lead:

Meeting Faculty and Staff Needs:

  • I met with the Dean on a regular and as needed basis, communicating, and liaising with faculty as necessary
  • Coordinated and participated in evaluations of all cohort faculty in consultation with the Dean and with discipline faculty developed faculty workload
  • Developed faculty class schedules
  • Facilitated the resource allocation process
  • Scheduled six cohort meetings a year, serving as chair, developed meeting Agendas and distributed the respective Minutes of Meetings

Meeting District Needs:

  • I attended monthly Instructional Council meetings
  • Liaised with off campus faculty of the department as necessary regarding their roles and their specific instructional support needs
  • Liaised with the relevant off campus Deans regarding all general college issues, such as curriculum, faculty hiring, evaluations, and other faculty issues pertinent to the respective discipline cohort
